Day 2 Sunday 01/09/2013
Brixham to Babbacombe
Miles walked – 13
It was warm and
sunny all day today so in shorts and T-shirts.
We had a very
nice breakfast at the B&B – fresh fruit & yoghurt then a full cooked
breakfast.
We left the
B&B about 10. Colin had forgotten the memory card for his camera so we
tried a few shops before finding one in Boots. We had a wander round the
harbour area in Brixham taking photos, before finally setting off on the walk.
The walk today was largely flat, going through the holiday resorts of Paignton
and Torquay.
However there were quite a few up and down sections on the headlands between, and it was very hot, making it a very tiring day. There were lots of people sunbathing in the main resorts, who looked surprised to see us walking past with our big rucksacks. At Paignton we found a nice little café and sat outside for a crab sandwich, then in Torquay we had an ice-cream. From Torquay it was quite an energetic up and down walk round the headland to Babbacombe, and we finally arrived at the B&B about 6.30, tired out. We had quite a large room, but it was down in the basement.
After a quick shower and washing clothes, we headed out to the front at Babbacombe. There we quite a few pubs & hotels here, and it looked much more lively than the main street running inland through the town centre which we’d walked up when we arrived. We settled on one, had lasagne then cheese & biscuits, then sat and listened to a duo singing before heading back about 10, tired out.
