Martin's Evening Walk

There’s always first time for everything. Last night it was one of Martin and Sues evening walk. Martin has said in the past that sometimes it will only be about 3 people. Well last night it was 17. I think Martin ran out off fingers to count us in the dark and with everyone bobbing about in the car park. Head touches beamed in to your eyes. I am sure he had to do a few recounts.

Any way we all set off on easy paths up onto Shutlingsloe above Macclesfield. At 506m (1660ft) it’s a steep sided hill and sometimes described as the Mattehorn of Cheshire. It is the third highest peak.

The weather was damp with low cloud. On reaching the top Martin bound up onto the Twig point for his photo before leaping back down to his rucksack. Where he came out with Fudge, Brownies and some rocky roads. Plus hot mint tea. He then gather everyone round for us to blast out We Wish You Merry Christmas song.
Brownie Any One?

Rocky Road Anyone?

It was time to head back down to the car park where some went home and some gather in the local pub Leather’s Smithy's down the road. Where I must say the light Christmas ale was very nice.

Very Nice.

Nice 2hour 5km walk.  Thanks again to Sue and Martin.

  1. Excellebt, Colin, thanks for coming along and contributing to a record turnout. Some credits and excuses are needed:
Thanks to Diana for the Rocky Road cookies, to JJ for leading the sing-sing, and to the Leather's Smithy for their excellent Christmas Ale.
Excused from adjourning to the pub were Joe, Kate and Andrew and their mums and dads, on the grounds that knocking on 10pm was a bit late for under 10s to be imbibing!

  2. The photo of you on top of the twig point came out better them I thought. with all the mist and the flash making it a white out. But I did have a good model.

  3. I hope you don't mind me using some of your pictures/text, Colin - it's now 28/12 and I've still not 'written up' this stroll!
