Skye Trail

We are now in the planning stage of doing the Skye Trail .  Setting off from the top end of Skye on Bank Holiday Monday and walking south for 7 days.  Mainly wild camping but with a BB and a normal camp site on route.  Looking at the weather so far. Just hope the rain goes away.

  1. Hi

Please let us know how it went. We are planning to do the Skye Trail in March 2012, but lack tips & crucial info so far...

    Thank you very much!

  2. Hi Bernard.

You can read how it went from looking at the rest of the blogs. We enjoyed the walk. Dont forget there is two routes that go slightly different. But we mixed them both up as they do cross or use the same route. So one is Carmeon route and the other is off the web site Skye trail. Also we started the the walk in a slightly different place due to the weather.
We went by car and left it in Portree long stay for free. Then used the bus to get to the start and to get back from the finish.
Portree has all the shops and banks. Plus outdoor shop if you need one. Indenpendat hostel that we used one night at the start and we used a B/B on the half way point to get cleaned and have a good night sleep. A goos place to eat is the Isles pub in the Sq of Portree. Good and nice range of beers. Also good bakery just across from them. But find the square as every is around there. Plus that where all buses stop and start.
Sligchan. We used the camp site and ate in the hotel pub bar. Plu we bought breakfast in the hotel. Also the have free wifi in the bar.
Elgol Shop and cafe in the hall. At the top of village. Then Torrin has a cafe but was closed when we passed though.

Anything else you need just ask us and where we wild camp.
